Hans Igler - der Rotweinpionier aus Deutschkreutz

The path of a Burgenland winery.
At the onset is the conscious commitment to quality.
The vision continues with the constant perfection of the wines from Blaufränkischland.

Pictured here is enologist Waltraud Reisner-Igler sampling from the barrel.

Past & Present

Following in the steps of Hans Igler.
Starting point is a winery in Burgenland in the early 1960’s where Hans Igler breaks from old ideas by recognizing and committing to quality.

By reducing the number of grape varieties and specializing in maturation in original French barriques, Hans Igler quickly attained recognition as a ”red wine pioneer”.
His path continued steadily. Perfection of malolactic fermentation, restricted yields, and international recognition are just a few of the milestones reached on Hans Igler’s way to becoming known as the doyen of red wine from Burgenland.

Anyone who imagines that aspirations reach a final place of rest shall be proved wrong, for the better will always remain the enemy of the good. Recognition of this is just one reason for the success of the Hans Igler Estate. Waltraud and Wolfgang Reisner-Igler now continue this path.
